Area residents have success at annual Missouri State Fair

Hunter Houghton, age 16, of Martinsburg, received the FFA Grand Champion Hampshire Ram at the Breeding Lamb Show at the 2017 Missouri State Fair on August 13. Hunter is a junior at Community R-VI and is a member of the Audrain FFA. He is the son of Jay Houghton.

Several Audrain County area residents experienced competition success in the recent Missouri State Fair in Sedalia.
Information listed was pulled from a long list of printed results on the Missouri State Fair website. (It does not include Baugh and Dunn and the Gatson family, whose results were printed in last week’s issue.)
Paige Dameron
Paige Dameron, of Vandalia, was fourth in the 29X Crossbreds Boars and Gilts/FFA.
Paige Dameron had champion corn stalks and reserve champion grapes at the State Fair.
Treyson Culwell
Treyson Culwell had champion soybeans at the event.
Hunter Houghton
Hunter Houghton, age 16, of Martinsburg, received the FFA Grand Champion Hampshire Ram at the Breeding Lamb Show. Hunter is a junior at Community R-VI and is a member of the Audrain FFA. He is the son of Jay Houghton.
He was first, second, and third in the 28D Hampshire/FFA.
He also won the FFA Sweepstakes for the Carcass Show and reserve champion on foot carcass. That lamb was seventh overall going up against 113 lambs as all four of his lambs finished in the top 50 in the rail portion.
Susan Risenhoover
Susan Risenhoover, of Martinsburg, took first and second in 72N Craft Bazaar, and second in 70I Cookies.
Pacey Cope
Pacey Cope, of Martinsburg, won gold in the 19H1 Hampshire Barrows/4-H and was third in the 19D Duroc Boars & Gilts/4-H.
Tayler Cope
Tayler Cope, of Mar-tinsburg, was second and third in the 29X1 Crossbred Barrows FFA, third in the 29X1 Crossbred Barrows FFA, third in 29B1 Berkshire Barrows FFA, and third in 29X Crossbred Boars & Gilts FFA. She was also second in 50Y1 Yorkshier Barrows Open and third in 50X1 Crossbred Barrows Open.
Ed Babb
Ed Babb, of Farber, was listed as second in the 93H Far Class Tractor Pull.
Ally Troesser
Ally Troesser, of Laddonia, was first in 50D1 Duroc Barrows Open, first in 29D Duroc Boars & Gilts FFA, and second in 29X Crossbreds Boars & Gilts FFA.
John Freyer
John Freyer, of Martinsburg, was second and fourth in 35A Five-Gaited Saddlebred.
Logan Wilson
Logan Wilson, of Vandalia, was third in the 29D Duroc Boars & Gilts FFA.
Patsy Riutcel
Patsy Riutcel and Bill Blackford, of Martinsburg/Columbia, were first and third in the Polka Dance Contest.
Riutcel also took third in the Line Dance Contest.
JoAnn Roth
JoAnn Roth, of Mexico, received first in the Line Dance Contest at the 2017 Missouri State Fair.
Clara Wallace
Clara Wallace was third in the 40R Steer Carcas Open.
Several Mexico
Winners
Cassidy Hunt, age 18, of Mexico, received Champion Shorthorn Plus Female and Bred & Owned Cow/Calf. Cassidy is a senior at Mexico High School and a member of the Mexico FFA. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Shelly Hunt. She was also first in the 43D Meat Goat Carcass-Open event, second in the 23A Wether Meat Goat/FFA, second on the 40F Hereford Open, and second in the 20F Hereford/FFA.
Cheyenne Hunt, age 21, of Mexico, received FFA Hereford Champion Overall Bull. Cheyenne is a college student at Central Methodist and Mexico FFA. She is the daughter of Jimmy and Shelly Hunt.
Chase Monte, age 18, of Mexico, received the FFA Champion Angus FFA Showman. Chase attends Mizzou and is a member of the Mexico FFA. He is the son of Dan and Kim Monte. Chase also received FFA Angus Senior Heifer, the Reserve Angus Heifer Overall, FFA Angus Champion Intermediate Heifer, and FFA Angus Champion Jr. Heifer Calf.
Alexis Koelling, age 13, of Curryville, received the 4-H Angus Reserve Sr. Yearling Heifer. She is in 8th grade at Bowling Green and the daughter of Brock and Michele Meyer.
Riley Johnson, age 18, of Middletown, received FFA Reserve Senior Yearling Maintainer. She attends Northwest Mo. State University and is a member of Bowling Green FFA. She is the daughter of Jim and Trish Johnson.
Colton Kendrick, of Mexico, took first in the 19X Crossbred Boars & Gilts/4-H and second in the 19X1 Crossbred Barrows/4-H.
Chase Kendrick was first in 50S1 Spot Barrows Open, was third in the 19S Spot Boars and Gilts/4-H and third in 19S1 Spot Barrows 4-H.
Robert Riley Dycus, of Mexico, was first in the 46H Bantam Old English Game Open and second in the 18P Wether Dam-Meat Breed Crossed.
Donnie Schwartze, of Martinsburg, was first in the 93A Antique Tractor Pull-A.
Kellen Ekern, of Mexico, was first in the 28E Montadale/FFA and second in 49G Montadale Open and third in the 49G Montadale Open.
Cheyenne Hunt, of Mexico, was first in 20F Hereford FFA, second in 43D Meat Goat Carcass Open, and was second in the 23A Wether Meat Goat FFA.
Mackenzie Stumpe, of Mexico, was first, second, and third in the 28K Tunis/FFA, second in the 49M Tunis Open, and third in the 49T-Slick Shorn Tunis.
Ciara Raithel, of Mexico, was first and third in the 40A Angus Open.
Michael Ahrens, of Mexico, was first in the 93C Antique Tractor Pull-C.
Jim Simmons, of Mexico, was listed for top two spots in the 35A Five-Gaited Saddlebred.
Walker Dycus, of Mexico, was first in the 46L Bantam Single Comb Clean Legged/4-H and second as well.
Vickie Barker, of Mexico, was first in 27B Embroidery.
Stanton Evans, of Mexico, was first in 72N Craft Bazaar along with Patricia Evans, of Mexico.
Gatlin Denham, of Mexico, was first in 46A Large Fowl American Open.
