Angela Mary Elwood, age 90, of Crown Point, Ind., formerly of Bowling Green, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015 at the Chicagoland Christian Village in Crown Point, Ind. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, with Fr. Lou Dorn officiating at the Bibb-Veach Funeral Home. Burial was in Concord Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation was held on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
She was born May 18, 1924 in St. Louis, the daughter of Frank and Rose Pisciotta Candela. She married Mack Elwood in St. Louis on Sept. 11, 1943. He preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1999.
Survivors include son Mack Frank Elwood (Dulcie) of Crown Point, Ind.; daughter Christine Elwood of Miami, Fla.; grandchildren Kristin Michele Schaeffer (Don) of Charlotte, N.C., James Mack Alu (Bita) of Hong Kong, China, Mack Lloyd Elwood of Moscow Mills, and Miller Mackenzie Elwood of Crown Point, Ind.; great grandchildren Paytin and Mia Schaeffer and Yasmine and Darius Alu; sister Mary Ann Shelton of Evansville, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Angela grew up in St. Louis and lived in Neptune, N.J., as well as Miami, Fla., before moving to Bowling Green in 1973. After the passing of her husband she moved to Crown Point, where she lived until her passing. She was a member of the Catholic Church and attended mass at St. Clement while living in Bowling Green. She liked to play bridge and loved to read cookbooks and try out new recipies. She loved living on the farm in Bowling Green and spending summers with her grandchildren. She had a good long life.
