The Van-Far boys and girls track and field team battled tough competition during the two day Centralia Invitational held last Monday and Tuesday.
The Lady Indians were led by the 4×800-meter relay team of Abilene Gatson, Autumn Cross, Breanna Gollaher, and Chevi Windland that finished in seventh place with a time of 12:26.08.
Individually, Windland also finished sixth in the 800 meters in 2:54.83.
Gatson took eighth in the high jump after leaping 4’ and 11th in the triple jump after leaping 27’1”.
Gollaher finished 12th in both the 100 meters in 14.80 seconds and in the 400 meters in 1:12.41.
Cross took 10th in the 400 meters in 1:11.15.
Abby Robinson finished 13th in both the 200 meters in 32.60 seconds and in the long jump after clearing 13’3”. She also took 17th in the 100 meters in 16 seconds.
The boys squad was led by Nick Carpenter, who took seventh in the 3,200 meters in 12:06. He also finished 16th in the 1,600 meters.
“The athletes have been improving times in all events and I expect the theme to continue throughout the season,” said Van-Far head coach Blake Logan. “The weather has continued to make the season a challenge however.”
