William E. and Bertha Lemasters, of Lebanon, Mo., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday, October 19, at The Patio Restaurant in Quincy, Ill.
Those attending the event was their daughter, Robin Frey with husband, Terry, and daughters Ashley and Kayla, and daughter Becky Maddex, with husband, Jeff, and children Ryan and Jordyn, and good friends, Jim and Pat Miller.
The weekend included a steamboat ride on the Mississippi in Hannibal and dinner at The Patio. The table was decorated in a fall theme, which included fall floral arrangements in stenciled pumpkins. The cake was decorated with white roses, with glitter diamonds on each rose to represent 60 years.
Mr. and Mrs. William E. Lemasters were united in marriage October 25, 1953 at the First Methodist Church of Palmyra.
Alice Plumer, of Montgomery City, was the bride’s attendant. The bridegroom’s attendant was Robert Clithero, of Middletown. After their marriage, Bill served in the United States Army, including a tour in Germany. Bill and Bertha then returned to Vandalia where they lived on a farm south of town. Bill farmed and worked for Harbison-Walker until his retirement in 1996.
Bert worked for Vandalia State Bank, retiring as vice president in 1996. In 1997 they moved to Lebanon, where they now reside.
