MELVIN GREGORY

Melvin Lee Gregory, 80, of Mexico, formerly of Holts Summit, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Home.
A Celebration of Life was from 10 – 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, at Arnold Funeral Home with a short service at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services with military honors will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Melvin was born Oct. 7, 1944, in Mexico, the son of Emmett Glen and Opal Leota (Thompson) Gregory. He graduated from Bowling Green High School and obtained bachelor’s degrees in Robotics and Mechanical Engineering.
Gregory was a veteran of the U.S. Army. His military service included serving with the highly decorated Black Knights unit, who were extremely battle tested during the Vietnam War.
Following his military service, Melvin began working for McDonnell- Douglas in research and development. He eventually worked as an analyst and in lower-level management until retiring in 1990, years after becoming Boeing Aerospace.
Survivors include his siblings, Dorothy (Dennis) Edwards of Moberly, Robert (Kim) Gregory of Curryville, and Helen Gray of New Hartford; precious companion, Carolyn Jones of Holts Summit; Carolyn’s grandson, Gavin Leffert; and several nieces and nephews.
Melvin’s parents, Glen and Opal Gregory; and one brother-in-law, Roger Gray, died earlier.
