In an effort to keep up with changing technology, postal rate increases, and printing costs, The Vandalia Leader is raising its advertising rates.
All display ads now cost $4.70 per column inch instead of the previous $4.55 per column inch.
Classified line ads have increase to $.95 per line and a minimum cost of $3.80.

The increase goes into effect November 1, in time for the Wednesday, November 6 issue.

St. Louis Cardinals

As most of our readers know, I’m originally from Baltimore and I am a big Orioles fan.
While I haven’t adopt many Missouri teams in the different sports, I’ll admit to being hooked on the St. Louis Cardinals.
They are my second favorite team and I hope one day my O’s could model their organization after the way St. Louis is year after year.
They have great young pitching, productive hitters, and a solid farm system.
While I think the Cardinals have great pitching matchups in the final two games of the World Series in Boston, the odds are in the Red Sox favor to win the title.
If this happens, Cardinals’ fans need to a

ppreciate what their favorite team has done this year.
Two years removed from Albert Pujols leaving and St. Louis has made two NLCS and one World Series.
They have been to four World Series since 2004 and consitently are finding ways to get to the playoffs.
So before some fans start complaining about what may have led to the Cardinals’ demise in the World Series, it’s important these same fans celebrate what St. Louis is doing.
This team deserves the Cardinals’ Nation support.
As an O’s fan, I celebrated a Wild Card win and a playoff appearance for the first time since the mid-90’s last year.
I also celebrated a near playoff rise this year and another winning season after years of the O’s being out of the pennant chase in June or July.
The last time the O’s made the World Series was 1983.
I look forward to the day my favorite team finally gets back to the November classic. Until then, I’ll reserve myself to enjoying the Cardinals’ annual playoff push towards a possible world title.
Go Cards!
