This week’s update on the Eastern Audrain Library/YMCA project
The Steering Committee welcomes Mary Steiner and Ralph Kuda as a member and an advisory member of the Steering Committee, respectively.
The Building task force has reviewed the plans. Cami Blackman distributed the site plans from Renner Howell Architects. Members reviewed the plans and agreed that Cami could proceed with using those plans to print display boards for future meetings, programs, etc.
The Communications Task Force will update the website and the local papers with current events and happenings on the project.
The Operations Task Force met and will be meeting again to finalize their recommendation based on the area membership fees and unit numbers.
Cindy Pirch reported that the Fundraising committee met on June 1 with the following items discussed. Tips from the Country Cupboard Eat Out night totaled $333.00. June 14 is the next 5K Run, Walk, and Bike event, which will be a Color Splash event, beginning at 8am at the Library. The next Eat Out night is June 16, at the Dairy Queen from 4-8pm.
Sherry Medley will provide suggestions and training on asking for donations to the project on June 18 beginning at 7 pm at the Lange Building. The group discussed sending letters to potential donors, calling potential donors before sending letters, following up after letters were sent, etc. Members discussed that they believe the community is ready to be approached for donations for the project.
The Rotary Club is sponsoring a Golf Tournament on June 22 with the proceeds going toward the project. A volleyball tournament is scheduled for June 28 at the Vandalia Fair, 1pm, $50 per team.
Felicity reported that the 5th grade class at Van-Far won the milk cap contest.
Kay Roberts reported that the library received a $4,000 grant. Congratulations!
