St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild met at the church on March 13, following a Lenten meal and worship service.
The meeting was opened with prayer by President, Carol Fischer. Lenten sermon served as the devotional for this evening.
Seven members responded to roll call with a scripture related to “hunger” or “being hungry.” Secretary’s minutes were read and approved. There was no financial report.
Altar chairperson, Karen Morris, reported that palms and lilies have been ordered.
Members reported the Lenten luncheon, served at the Christian Church on February 27, was successful, in spite of inclement weather. Approximately 30 people attended.
Members agreed to meet at the home of Dorothy Cahill on April 3, to work on compiling a history of the guild.
After being tabled in February, discussion continued regarding a Mother/Daughter event.
The group agreed to plan a brunch this year instead of an evening banquet.
Service project for this month was bringing items for the food pantry.

Besides those previously mentioned, Angie Morris, Marlo Hunn, Elsie Hand, and Brenda Elliott attended this meeting.
The April meeting was held in the home of Dorothy Cahill on Wednesday, April 10. Following an opening prayer by Carol Fischer, six members answered roll call with a scripture concerning “resurrection.”
Brenda Elliott presented the topic, “Ways to Praise Jesus.” Secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and accepted.
Members were reminded of the Circuit Pastor’s Meeting on April 15. Plans were finalized for the breakfast preparation that day.
Planning continued for the Mother/Daughter brunch to be held on May 11. It was reported that a young vocalist has accepted our invitation to perform.
Brenda Elliott and Regina Vogt reported on the Zone Board Meeting, held in March.
Members were reminded of the Spring Rally, which will be held in Bowling Green, MO on April 27.
Meeting was adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer.

The May 8 meeting will be held at St. John fellowship hall at 7 p.m.
