The annual Parade of Veterans highlighted the beginning of last Friday’s Veterans Day Assembly held at Van-Far Jr./Sr. High School as veterans also enjoyed a breakfast before the event.
A presentation of veterans was done as they were escorted by Van-Far National Honor Society members and student family members while the Van Far Chiefs Band played “Corcoran March.”
A welcome was given by National Honor Society President Lauren Shaw before the Missouri Military Academy Color Guard presented the colors.
The Van-Far Jr./Sr. High School and Junior High Choirs led the National Anthem, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance being led by Private Dylan Grimes, senior Vanessa Martinez, and senior Marine Poolee.
The Van-Far Chiefs Band and the Junior Senior High Choirs performed the Armed Forces “Pride of America” recognizing our veterans and asking them to stand when their branch of the military was announced followed by Bethany Grimes reading “In Flanders Field”
Guest Speaker Robert Dyke was introduced by his daughters mentioning that he was a member of the military police, did three active tours in Iraq, and that he enlisted days after 9/11, 2001.
