The Van-Far boys and girls track and field teams competed on their coach’s former track last week in Louisiana and had several top performances.
The Indians scored 20 team points in the Louisiana Invitational.
Sharrod Connor finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 37’6.25” and third in the long jump with a leap of 17’11.5”.
Joseph Clithero, Chad Garland, Conner Albrecht, and Andrew Snodgrass teamed up for a third place finish in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:47.81.
Clithero added a fourth place finish in the 100 meters in 12.64 seconds.
Garland also placed fifth in the 400 meters in 1:05.83. He was eighth in the 200 meters in 28.57 seconds.
Albrecht placed seventh in the 800 meters in 2:57.27.
Snodgrass was seventh in the discus with a toss of 74’5”. He also took eighth in the shot put with a toss of 25’6”.
Jace Gay shined in the distance races with a fifth place finish in the 3,200 meters in 12:51.67. He also took sixth in the 1,600 meters in 5:55.92.
The Lady Indians scored 16 team points.
Abby Robinson paced Van-Far with a third place finish in the long jump with a leap of 14’1.5”. She also took fifth in the 100 meters in 14.67 seconds.
She teamed with Alexis DeTienne, Emily Laskowski, and Madison Orr for a fourth place finish with a time of 1:00.90.
“(Abby) has improved a ton since last year in all events,” said Van-Far head coach and Louisiana alum Blake Logan.
Abilene Gatson took third in the high jump after clearing 4’4”. She placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 13’6.5” and seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 30’1’.
Gatson teamed with DeTienne, Laskowski, and Orr to help the 4×200-meter relay team with a time of 2:09.28.
Orr was seventh in the 200 meters in 32.31 seconds.
DeTienne took eighth in the 200 meters in 32.78 seconds.
Chevi Windland was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:12.81.
