Both the Van-Far 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams defeated Clopton on December 20.
The 7th grade team led 34-14 at halftime before the defense gave up just four, second half points in a 55-18 victory.
Trey Miller led the Indians with 20 points, Treyson Culwell had 18 points, Dillion Minor scored eight points, Caden Wilburn scored four points, Verlyn Johnson had three points, and Chris Boos added two points.
“In the second half we held them to four points, we sured up some defensive stuff at halftime,” said Van-Far head coach Joe Basinger.
The 8th grade boys basketball team led Clopton 25-12 at halftime before holding on for a 41-25 victory.
Lathyn McMorris scored 15 points, both Josh Hodde and Brayden Christian had seven points, both Parker Wallace and Colten Jensen scored four points, while both Kyle Ebers and Walter Salmon, Jr. had two points.
Wallace played Clopton’s best player when on defense and helpd him to just two points through three quarters.
“He played an excellent game,” Basinger said about Wallace. “…We just really locked it up in the third quarter…It was one of the better team games we played all year.”
