Van-Far JH boys finish third at Bowling Green

Van-Far’s boys and girls track and field teams experienced some success at the Bowling Green Middle School Invitational held on April 16.
The boys squad was impressive, finishing third in the 11-team meet after scoring 76.5 points. They were the top scoring EMO school, finishing behind only Centralia and Palmyra.
Sharrod Connor led the Indians by winning the triple jump after leaping 33’5”. He also won the 100-meter race with a time of 12.50 seconds.
He teamed with Josh Hodde, Parker Wallace, and Jacob Garner to place second in the 4×100-meter relay in 53.59 seconds.
Connor also finished second in the long jump after leaping 15’10”.
Joe Clithero teamed with Cameron Barsé, Wallace, and Garner to take third in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:55.38. Clithero also took fifth in the 200 meters in 27.71 seconds and seventh in the long jump after leaping 13’9”.
He finished fourth in the 100 meters after finishing with a time of 13.03 seconds.
Garner finished fourth in the high jump after clearing 4’10” to score five team points. He also finished 13th in the triple jump.
Hodde took fifth in the high jump after clearing 4’8”. He took 10th in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.34 seconds.
Barsé placed 14th in the shot put and 16th in the discus. Barsé also finished 15th in the 800 meters.
Kyle Ebers took 17th in the shot put and 19th in the discus.
Lathyn McMorris placed second in the 1,600 meters in 5:27.91 and second in the 800 meters in 2:30.66.
Wallace placed 10th in the 400 meters. Dustin Cross took 14th in the 400 meters and 17th in the 200 meters.
The Lady Indians finished in 10th place after scoring just seven team points.
Jayda Borgmeyer scored five of the team points by finishing fourth in the triple jump after leaping 25’7.5”. She also placed eighth in the long jump by leaping 12’6”. She finished 10th in the 100 meters in 14.66 seconds.
Borgmeyer teamed with Erica Felmlee, Alexis DeTienne, and Naija Jackson to finish eighth in the 4×200-meter relay in 2:11.75.
Gina Clausen, Jackson, Felmlee, and DeTienne took 10th in the 4×100-meter relay event.
Jackson finished ninth in the long jump after leaping 12’4.5”. She also finished 17th in the 100 meters.
Clausen took ninth in the discus throw and 21st in the shot put.
Taryn Adam finished ninth in the 800 meters in 3:05 and 13th in the 1,600 meters.
Felmlee finished 16th in the 400 meters and 19th in the 200 meters.
DeTienne finished 14th in the 200 meters.
