It’s a three-peat! The Van-Far golf team won its third straight district championship this past Monday after holding off second place Paris by 44 strokes.
The Indians were led by golfer Rylee Hanson, who shot a 35 on the back nine in the Class 1, District 5 event to win the district championship by just one stroke.
Combined with his 39 on the front nine, he held off Barat Academy’s Max Floyd, who finished with a 75 on the par-70, LA Nickell course in Columbia, Mo. Zane Allen was seventh overall out of 50 golfers after shooting a 40 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine for an 83.
Jayson Orr came in eighth with an 86 after stumbling with a 45 on the back nine. He shot a 41 on the front nine.
Ashton Garnett was ninth overall after his 88, shooting an even 44 on both parts of his round.
Ethan Winders also earned all-district honors with a 14th place total of 96, shooting a 46 on the front nine. He struggled on the final nine holes with a 50. The team will compete in state sectionals next Monday.
