The Van-Far R-I School District expressed its apprecation for the volunteers and sponsors who helped make the greenhouse construction possible with a ribbon cutting ceremony held on Monday, April 29.
“With your help, this process has come to fruition,” said Van-Far Superintendent Chris Felmlee just moments before the ribbon was cut by Van-Far FFA members Kyle Decker and Jake Stuart. “Obviously it was your hard work and willingness to make this happen…The community has really stepped up this past year with passing the school bond, the helicopter pad, and the greenhouse.”
Van-Far’s FFA Advisor Taryn Dameron told those attending the ceremony that she was thankful for all of the volunteer hours poured into the project.
“We didn’t have any labor cost which is almost unheard of on a project like this,” Dameron said. “…Definitely I think this is a reflection of the community. They gave time and personal aspects to physically build the building.”
After the ribbon was cut, those attending the event toured the greenhouse and were greeted by a large array of flowers and plants.
