On Friday, October 15, Van-Far Junior and Senior High School students listened to a variety of guest speakers from different occupational specialities at the 5th Annual A+ Career Fair.
Van-Far A+ Coordinator, Joy Davis and her team lined up speakers from the following fields: Human services, Industrial and Engineering Technology, Human Services, Natural Resources Agriculture, Business Management and Technology, and Arts and Communication.
“The motivation is out of the A+ program. One of the requirements of the A+ program is that all of the students in the school have selected a career path, and their subjects and coursework align with the career path they have chosen,” said A+ Coordinator Joy Davis. “There is six career paths and the career fair is organized around those six career paths. Students see six presentations from each one of the career paths. At the end of the day, they have gained some knowledge about what careers they are interested in. All of them have selected a career already, they start working on that in elementary school. It’s part of the guidance program in the state of Missouri and the A+ program.”
