The Community R-VI boys basketball teams split two games in three nights last week to drop their record to 4-1.
The Trojans began the week by holding off a sluggish start against Wright City to beat the Wildcats 48-28.
Community R-VI led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter before pushing the lead to 13 points at halftime.
The Trojans outscored the Wildcats 20-15 in the second half in the 20-point victory.
“We played great defense, which offset a poor shooting night,” said Community R-VI head coach Ken Jett.
Every player on the Trojans’ roster scored in the victory.
Conner Brooks, Clay Thebeau, and Lane Thebeau each scored nine points.
Kyle Curtis finished with seven points for a team that made just 11-of-20 free throws.
The Trojans lost their first game of the season at Monroe City on December 19 after being outscored in the second half in a 48-44 loss.
Monroe City led 16-10 at the end of the first quarter before the Trojans rallied to take a 22-21 lead at halftime.
“Monroe shot the ball well all night we had a cold spell in the fourth quarter, which was the difference,” Jett said.
Lane Thebeau led the Trojans with 15 points while Clay Thebeau scored 13 points.
