With the help of the City of Martinsburg and area electric providers, Benton City installed their first outdoor severe weather siren last Friday.
Audrain County Communications (E-911), Consolidated Electric, and Ameren UE of Audrain County teamed with Martinsburg and Benton City officials on the project.
Last November, Audrain County Emergency Management won a grant from the A.P. Green Foundation. Ameren UE donated labor costs to install the system while Consolidated Electric donated the 55’ utility pole for mounting. Audrain County Communication (E-911) is assisting in hooking the system to their existing system and running it off the Martinsburg radio signal for remote operation.
“This is a great example of communities, agencies, and businesses coming together to create a better/safer environment for folks in Audrain County,” said Steve Shaw, the County Director for EMA. “And it shows what people can do if they work together for the common good and life safety.”
