The Ralls County Soil and Water Conservation District, (SWCD), informational meeting with landowner’s Saturday March 8, was rated a success. The mission of the meeting was to inform landowners of the many helpful programs available to them.
Board Supervisor and treasurer, Jody Ketsenburg, greeted the group of 64 individuals and reminded them that cost share funds, to assist them, is the result of the Missouri State Parks and Soil Tax.
Following the introduction of the board of supervisors by Martha Briscoe, District manager, covered the many activities that Ralls (SWCD) provide to the public and through the county churches, schools and service groups.
Technician, Wayne Pickett, informed the group of the State-Cost-Share programs available to landowners that check soil erosion and assist with better water quality.
The programs available from the Natural Resources Conservation Services, (NRCS) were presented by Keith Jackson, District Conservationist for Pike and Ralls Counties.
There were five break-out sessions presented by Missouri Extension Services, Missouri Department of Conservation, NRCS, and Ralls SWCD personnel. Andrea King, Area Resource Conservationist, and David Doctorian, Pest Management Specialist, presented, “the popular” program, the Rainfall Simulator, to the entire group. Many area businesses furnished door prizes following a meal provided by the Ralls SWCD.
