A Silex runner slides into a base during a postponed Community R-VI game on Friday.

After scoring 40 runs in their first two games of the season, the Community R-VI softball team’s explosive offense ran into a Pilot Grove squad that was state runner-up last season.
Though they gave the Central Activities Conference foe a great game, the Lady Trojans only had four hits while they struck out 18 times in a 2-0 loss.
“Tough loss tonight but we competed with a very experienced team and held them, 2-0,” said Community R-VI head coach Madison Henke on Twitter after the big game. “Very proud of our Lady Trojans.”
In their second CAC game of the season, Emma Angel led the team with two hits. Both Natalie Thomas and Katie Bertels had one hit.
No pitching statistics were available at press time.
Rain postponed the Lady Trojans’ home game last Friday night against Silex.
The New Franklin Tournament was also postponed over the weekend and has been rescheduled for October 6.
