Community R-VI cross country runners Leah Mays and Ryan Kitchen will head to Jefferson City to represent the school in the Class 1 state competition on Saturday, November 3.
The cross country squad entered their district meet Saturday, October 27.
Lady Trojan Mays placed 10th with a time of 22:58, running her second best time of the season and earning a place at state. Teammate Kaitlin Orr finished 19th with a time of 24:34, trimming 14 seconds off her time at the same course last week.
On the boys team, Ryan Kitchen placed 8th at 19:13, earning his spot in the state meet. Cameron Foreman, who had been nursing a knee injury the last two-and-a-half weeks, finished 18th with his second best time of the season at 20:23. Lance Gibson placed 32nd at 22:54.
“Overall, I felt the kids had a really good last race of the season, which is what I always hope for,” Community R-VI head coach Kris Cross said. “I’m really proud of all my kids and will miss my five seniors next year.”
