The Community R-VI Junior High girls basketball team kicked off season play on Tuesday, October 22 in New Bloomfield.
The Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Trojans 39-12.
In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans scored four points, four in the second, two in the third quarter, and two in the fourth.
Alissa Curtis was the high scorer with six points.
“This was our first game and we had some first game jitters to work through. We got into foul trouble early on in the game struggled from that point on,” said head coach Stacie Carroz.
On Wednesday, October 23, the Lady Trojans played in the Madison Tournament against Marion County. The Lady Trojans won the game 37-14.
In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans scored 12 points, 12 in the second, eight in the third, and five in the fourth.
High scorers were Alissa Curtis with 21 points and Chelsea Hoyt with 11 points.
“We had a great game offensively as well as defensively! Alissa Curtis led the team with 21 points,” Carroz said.
The Lady Trojans then defeated the Madison Lady Panthers 22-11 at the Madison Tournament on Friday, October 25 in the championship game.
In the first quarter, the Lady Trojans scored five points, eight in the second, five in the third, and four in the fourth.
High scorers for the game were Alissa Curtis with 12 points, and Chelsea Hoyt with six points.
“We had a nice game defensively, holding Madison to only two points the first half. Offensively, we got a lot of nice looks, finding the open person to score. I am very pleased with how the team played together and it was exciting getting the victory,” Carroz said.
Next game is Friday, November 1 at Mark Twain Junior High School in Center, Mo.
