On October 23, the Audrain County R-VI FFA Chapter collaborated with the school nurse, Leeann Meador, to put on Food Power.
Food Power is an interactive way to show how food nourishes the body.
There is a full set-up of tents with activities for the kids start at the mouth and work their way through the human body following the same path as our food.
At each tent, which represents a important sector of the human body that plays a role in the food digestions, FFA members discussed the important of each part and its role in the body.
There was also sections outside the body including germs, milk, the food pyramid, and how food gets from the farm to the table.
Our goal in this event was to show the importance of agriculture to our everyday lives.
We wanted to make a strong connection to a tractor in the field or a cow in the pasture to how American farmers help produce a lot of food and other products that many people use.
To help make our point across we also combined with the Missouri Beef Industry Council.
Through them we received poster, hand-outs, and stickers to hand to the kids to promote beef.
100% of our elementary students attended the event and we hope they make healthy choices and understand the importance of agriculture.
