The Alumni Dinner, sponsored by the Van-Far Alumni and Friends Association, will be held Sunday, September 23 after a one year hiatus. The dinner will be held at the Van-Far Elementary School at 12:30 p.m. with doors to be open at noon.
Dinner will feature a barbecue pork chop and Cordon Bleu menu with all the trimmings at a cost of $15 per guest if purchased before September 15. After that date, the cost will be $20 per guest. Reservations may be made with Jeanne George at Craig’s Truck and Tractor or with Muriel Beshears by calling 594-3308.
Guests will have the opportunity to tour the recently remodeled Elementary Building, as well as, enjoy the student-created art work and displays throughout the building. Tours will be led by elementary students.
The after-dinner program will feature entertainment by our very own high school senior Jayson Orr, who will present a musical variety act.
Speaker for the day will be former Van-Far Jr./Sr. High School Principal Mrs. Cindy Pirch. Mrs. Pirch retired from Van-Far and from the education field and is now enjoying life with her husband Garry on their farm in southern Mo. She continues to be active in many organizations and volunteer activities, and still finds time to raise chickens on the farm. She will, undoubtedly, share many stories of her days at Van-Far, so come to see if any are about you!
The Alumni Dinner is an excellent opportunity to meet and become re-acquainted with former classmates and teachers, and to reminisce about the time spent at Van-Far.
All proceeds from the dinner go to the Alumni Scholarship Fund which has made possible numerous scholarships amounting to thousands of dollars to Van-Far graduates during the past 10 years. Scholarship winners from the 2018 school year will be recognized and given an opportunity to share their plans for higher education.
These students are Colten Jensen, Parker Wallace, Taryn Adam, Paul Schambach, Mackenzie Kurz, Alexandra Connaway, Josh Hodde, Jacob Garner, Madeleine Dunn, Makayla Vigil, and Sarah Motley.
The Alumni Association cordially invites everyone in the Vandalia–Farber area to the dinner to show support for the excellent education Van-Far provides for its students.
