The doors officially opened this past weekend in Vandalia to the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit “New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music” after a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 27 at the Java Goddess. Several volunteers and Vandalia residents attended the event.
“This is the first day of the exhibit but by no means the first day worked on this,” said the Vandalia Area Historical Society’s Paul Ray. “I thank all of the corporate sponsors on the local and national level. This is June 27; for some places a very small step, but for Vandalia it’s a very entertaining big step.”
Ray said through donations and a grant from the Missouri Arts Council, the Vandalia
