Vandalia has resale fever.
A third recent resalable retailer, “Inscentives,” has set up shop — but with a focus on eclecticism.
“We heard (Vandalia) was a good place to be,” Owner Chris Sandfort said, noting his choice for the town. “We were influenced to come here by Vandalia native Tyler Starks.”
“We felt like it was a small, tight-knit town that we could bring something to the community,” Jason Houston, co-owner, added.
The shop buys furniture by the truck load but also trades precious metals, coins, and sells most everything from baseball cards to some 2,000 movies.
“Inscentives” specializes in aroma therapy products and looks to become a licensed car and firearms dealer.
“We are more aggressive,” Houston said. “We like to focus on gold, silver, and coins.”
“The main thing that makes us different, we have so many people and everybody specializes in something different,” he said.
“That is what comes together so well and makes us an established business,” Sandfort said.
“Inscentives’” Vandalia location is a trifecta of recent grand openings for entrepreneur Sandfort. He opened up his first store in November at Auxvasse before adding a second shop in January at Fulton. The Vandalia location —now open at 104 S. Main St. — has two regular employees, Dillon Matthews and Adrian Fultz. Three others — Sandfort, Houston, and Brandon Rader, also a co-owner — will shuffle to and from the other shops.
