Van-Far music students won several medals while participating in the 68th Annual Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Music Festibal April 25-27 on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.
The event included 4,756 individual and group performances representing 382 schools.
It was, “An excellent day at State Music Festival! Beautiful weather and a strong showing by the Van-Far Indians,” Van-Far Music Director Zachary Keller said.
Earning a gold medal were Jayson Orr (horn), Aubrey Bunge (flute), and Kiera Hayden (voice). Earning a silver medal were Aubrey Bunge, Lauren Shaw, and Trevor Winders (woodwind trio). Trevor Winders also won a silver medal (piano solo).
This year, Van-Far won three gold medals and two silver medals. Last year, Van-Far students only earned one silver and two bronze.
“Congratulations Indians. As the director, on a scale of one to 10, I am an 11 as to how proud I am of all your hard work. What a great capstone to a great year for all our Van-Far music groups!,” Keller said.
A special thank you went out also to Kay Bunge as accompanist on piano.
