The Monday Study Club met at 1:30 p.m. on February 24, and March 10 at the United Methodist Church. Donna DeTienne and Martha Hopke were hostesses for the February 24 meeting and Martha and Doris Ray were hostesses for the March 10 meeting.
The meeting was called to order by club president, Deedie Reading, as she led the pledges to the American and Christian flags.
Jackie Marshall had the devotional from Guideposts entitled “Don’t Worry About Tomorrow” based on Matthew 6:34 and on the 24th a devotional from The Upper room entitled, “Your Place to Meet God” based on James 1:2-8 on February 10.
She followed both by prayer.
Roll call was answered by eight members using the word “Heart or Salvation” on the 24th and 10 members using the word “Mature or Respect” on the 10th.
Donna DeTienne read the Duty, “Service for God.” It was based on Acts 8. She then led the questions and answers. Martha Hopke read the Duty, “The Love of God” based on Acts 9 and followed with the questions and answers. Both were given on February 24.
Martha Hopke read the Duty, “Unto the Gentiles.” It was based on Acts 10 followed by questions and answers. Doris Ray read the Duty, “God’s New Program” based on Acts 11 and led the questions and answers. Both were given on March 10.
For the February 24 meeting the special studies were given by Val Galloway and Martha Hopke. Val read Beverly Largent’s paper on the background of St. Valentine. Martha read “Resting with God” from “Stories of God’s Abundance” and a poem entitled “Rich Beyond Care.”
For the March 10 meeting Donna DeTienne had a special study. She read a paper entitled “Daniel’s Glove” and a poem, “The Seasons Mean.”
The members present for the February 24 meeting were Edna Mae Wallace, Val Galloway, Martha Hopke, Donna DeTienne, Deedie Reading, Jackie Marshall, Kay Reading, and Doris Ray.
The members present for the March 10 meeting were Ann Foreman, Donna DeTienne, Val Galloway, Deedie Reading, Jackie Marshall, Helen Jerman, Beverly Largent, Martha Hopke, Doris Ray, and Kay Reading.
The meetings were adjourned as all members recited the Club Collect in unison. The next meeting will be on March 24 at the United Methodist Church with Beverly Largent as hostess and Deedie Reading giving the special study.
