The Monday Study Club met at 1:30 p.m. on April 8, 2013 at the United Methodist Church. Ann Foreman and Deedie Reading were the hostesses.
The meeting was called to order by the president, Deedie Reading, as she led the pledges to the American and Christian flags.
Jackie Marshall had the devotional from the Upper Room, based on Matthew 13:1-8 and 18:33, titled “Free Gift”. She closed with prayer.
Deedie had a Memorial Service for Mary Edith Newland. She read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 as her scripture.
Roll call “Obedience or Secret” was answered by 11 members.
Ann Foreman was in charge of the Duty, “Man’s Last & Worst Act”, based on John 19:16-42. She also led the question and answer session.
Donna Detienne filling in for Val Galloway was in charge of the Special Study. She read an article entitled “Why Did Jesus Fold the Napkin”. It was enjoyed by all present.
Deedie Reading was in charge of the Duty, “The Victorious Christ”, based on John 20. She also led the questions and answer session.
Jan Shaw gave the Special Study, “Design For Life” from 1 Corinthians 15:51-58. She closed with prayer.
Those attending other than already mentioned were: Helen Jerman, Martha Hopke, Helen Thompson, Doris Ray, Edna Mae Wallace and Kay Reading.
The meeting was adjourned as all members recited the Club Collect in unison.
The next meeting will be April 22 at noon at the United Methodist Church with the Spring Luncheon.
The program will be a sharing of thoughts, objects and anything else of the members.
