Highlights from the week:
A church service was held in the chapel on Sunday morning. Monday afternoon our one and only Kelly Stanford entertained everyone with his music. Tuesday morning residents gathered in the activity room and discussed the facts on the Oklahoma City Bombing.
After lunch, a Bible study was held in the chapel and a Lutheran service was held. Stacie Smithee, Director of Social Services was recognized as the 2013 Employee of the Year at a banana split reception later in the afternoon and that evening the Audrain County VFW Post No. 3772 held their meeting in the dining room which several residents attended.
A card game was held on Wednesday morning followed by a birthday lunch for the resident that had January birthdays. In the afternoon, residents enjoyed a bingo game sponsored by the Vandalia VFW Post and Auxiliary No. 2173. Bingo and pool were the highlights on Thursday morning followed by Catholic communion in the chapel and in the afternoon a bingo game was held in memory of Carl Acton. Friday morning residents enjoyed a card game of “Pass the Trash” and in the afternoon a movie was played and everyone enjoyed Happy Hour. That evening a pizza party was held in the activity room.
Stacie Smithee, Director of Social Services was recognized as the 2013 Employee of the Year. She has been employed at the facility since June 2010. Thank you Stacie and Congratulations!
The American Red Cross Blood Drive brought in 20 donors with 17 productive units. Two of them were first time donors. Thanks to everyone that came and gave the gift of life.
VFW Post #3772 will meet on Tuesday, February 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the dining room at the facility. All VFW members are welcome to attend.
Alzheimer Support Group will meet on Wednesday, February 19th at 1:30 p.m. at the facility. The public is welcome to attend.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED! Currently we are recruiting persons interested in volunteering to assist with hydration with the residents and a canteen volunteer for the 3rd Thursday of the month is also needed. If you are interested in spending some time with the residents, call Susan Paden, Supervisor of Volunteer Services at 573-581-1088 ext. 1286 and we can set up a time.
