The City of Laddonia hosted what may be the start of a new holiday tradition last Wednesday evening when local residents gathered for a Christmas event at the city park.
City of Laddonia officials invited the public to join them in turning on lights for a Christmas tree at the park.
First Baptist Church of Laddonia Pastor Chris Atkinson shared the Christmas story involving the birth of Christ with those in attendance.
A pair of prayers followed.
Those in attendance also joined together in singing Christmas songs before Santa Claus arrived on a Laddonia fire truck.
Kids told Santa what they wanted for Christmas and some refreshments were also served.
Laddonia Mayor Josh Deimeke was unable to attend the event due to a rescheduling of Van-Far’s Jr./Sr. High School Christmas Program.
In a letter read by City Clerk Sabrina Hays at the event, Deimeke said he’s in talks with a Christmas tree farm in hopes of eventually landing a permanent 8’ tree for the park and future ceremonies.
