The Van-Far Indians baseball team was able to overcome nearly blowing a seven run lead last Friday night on the road in Louisiana to hold on for a 9-7 win over the Bulldogs. Three first inning errors helped the Indians open the game with a 4-0 lead in the first.
After a fielder’s choice RBI plated the fifth run in the top of the fifth inning, Van-Far added their four final runs in their next at-bat. Louisiana’s defense made eight errors in the game.
Louisiana scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings and added three more in the bottom of the seventh but it wasn’t enough.
Van-Far scored nine runs but only had three hits in the game.
Matt Dunn led the offense with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Riley Culwell had two RBIs; Logan Wilson drew three walks and added one RBI and one run scored; while Latrell Wright, Treyson Culwell, Sam Middleton, Seth Morris, and Aidan Lowrance each scored one run.
Treyson Culwell tossed five innings on the mound and gave up just one earned run on three hits with 12 strikeouts and one walk.
Middleton tossed two innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
