“Great day, conference champions,” said Van-Far head coach Melissa Orr. “As we entered into the conference tournament, we had set a goals to earn the championship plaque. Last year, we battled till the end of the tournament against Montgomery County and came up a few strokes short, creating a greater desire to win it this year. We are proud of each of the (golfers) and their drive to grind through the round, even when shots didn’t turn out as well as they had hoped. This win helped build their confidence as we enter into district play next Monday.”
Last meet, Van-Far golf also took first place in a quad meet at Montgomery County with Silex, Warren County JV, and Montgomery County.
“We played well today and beat Montgomery on their home course,” Melissa Orr said “ending a six year unbeaten home record for the Wildcats.”
Van-Far took first place with 173, while Montgomery and Silex had a tie for second with 185.
Individual scores for Van-Far were Hanson, who scored first place with a 36, Jayson Orr was second with a 42, Ashton Garnett had 45, while Ethan Winders and Haley Baskett both scored 52.
“Individually, all of the golfers scored better today than Monday at the Centralia Invitational and beating their long-time rival on their course made it a great day,” said Coach Melissa Orr.
