Indians beat R-VI, fall to both Hermann and North Callaway

Van-Far’s baseball team knocked off rival Community R-VI, 2-1, after LaTrell Wright’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Caden Wilburn for the winning run.
They scored their first run in the third inning as Riley Culwell had an RBI single that plated Logan Wilson.
Community R-VI struck first with one run in their first at-bat as Tim Hunn scored on Hunter Houghton’s RBI double.
Riley Culwell had two hits and one RBI in the win. Wright also had one RBI while both Caden Wilburn and Wilson scored one run.
Colin Wilburn and Sam Middleton each had a base hit in the win.
Wilson tossed six and one-third innings on the mound allowing one earned run on four hits with 12 strikeouts.
Treyson Culwell tossed one and two-thirds innings and allowed no earned runs, one hit, while striking out four.
For the Trojans, Houghton had one RBI and Hunn scored their lone run.
Evan Hartsock, Levi Rafferty, and Caden Escamilla each had base hits in the loss.
Hartsock tossed five and two-thirds innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits with 12 strikeouts of his own. Houghton tossed two innings and gave up just one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts.
In a doubleheader, the Indians lost a tough 15-2 game to Hermann at home.
Hermann scored six runs in the second and nine in the fifth to seal the big win. Colin Wilburn had one RBI and one run scored while Treyson Culwell scored one run.
Riley Culwell tossed four and one-third inning on the mound and allowed 10 earned runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts.
Middleton tossed two-thirds of an inning and allowed no runs on one hit.
The Indians also had a tough 9-5 loss to North Callaway.
Van-Far led 4-0 through three innings before the Thunderbirds answered with nine runs. They scored four runs in the sixth and three in their final at-bat.
Colin Wilburn had three RBIs and one run scored; Wilson scored three runs; Treyson Culwell and Riley Culwell each had one RBI; and LaTrell Wright scored one run.
Wilson tossed five and a third inning on the mound, allowing four earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and seven walks. Middleton tossed two-thirds of an inning and gave up three earned runs on four hits with one strikeout. Treyson Culwell tossed one inning and gave up two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
