Farber Baptist WOM and Baptist Men met Monday, April 8 for their monthly meetings. Karen Holbrook, WOM president, led the groups in singing “We Shall See the King Someday.” The women opened their meeting with members mentioning praises and Linda Prior lead in prayer. Carrie Hurd, program leader, presented “Sweet Dreams’. Global partners topics, “Telling Bible Stories” and “Seeing the Big Picture” were presented by Jessica Hurd and Callie Fowler. Prayer chairman, Monnie Smith, read Ruth 4:14 as the scripture focus and Sub-Saharan as the prayer focus. Each member read names of missionaries placed on flower seed packages who had birthdays on this day. Smith closed with prayer. Mission action for April is snacks for the Agape House of Vandalia and assisting Union Baptist Church with a meal for Campers on Mission at Camp Cedar Crest.
The group is still collecting grocery bags for the Laddonia Food Pantry. Holbrook mentioned that the Annie Armstrong Easter offering goal was surpassed.
The next meeting is May 20 with “Bring – a – Snack and Callie Fowler leading the program. Fowler closed with prayer. Linda and Tom Prior served refreshments for both groups.
Alan Hurd, vice president, opened the men’s meeting with 2nd Peter 2:l-5 and prayer. The group discussed plans for Mothers Day and gave a donation towards the purchase of food for Campers on Mission at Camp Cedar Crest. Sterling Holbrook led the program with the scripture focus being 2nd Peter l:3-4, l0-2l and Jude l6-25.
The program was titled “Living with Truth” and “Living with Troublemakers.” The following parts were presented: “Displaying Your Relationship,” Tom Prior; “Defending Your Testimony” and “ Dependent on the Lord,” Waldo Roberts; “Depending on Inspired Scripture,” Ted Fowler; “Dwelling with Sinful Lifestyles,” Tom Wright; “Delighted with Positive Responses,” Gene Fowler; and “Beware of Deception,” Hurd. Holbrook asked relevant questions after each part. The meeting closed with the Calendar of Prayer for the fall revival and Bible School and for Rev. Jerry Ostrom.
