Election results from April 2

Several competitive election races were decided on Tuesday, April 2 after area voters went to the polls.
In Audrain County:

City of Vandalia
Ward II (write-in): Edna Wheeler won with 15 votes. Dempsey Dixon was second (3) and Clarice Cannon was third (1).

Ward III: Incumbent Debbie Hopke defeated Linda Wilson 89-59. Teresa Wenzel won her unopposed race in Ward I.

Vandalia Special Road District Commissioner
Terry Newland won with 277 votes to 101 votes for J.C. Davis.

Van-Far School Board
Bryan Evans (342) and Stacia Wilson (284) won the two seats. Board President Dana Keller came in third (232).

City of Farber
James E. Day Jr. had 37 votes and Mike Atkinson had 19 write-in votes as both won alderman seats.

Kendall Scott won the uncontested race for mayor.

City of Laddonia
The City of Laddonia’s question passed 61-38.

As for alderman, Glenn Jensen won with 72 votes. Kevin Charlton was second (62) and Monte Hanson was third (41).

Josh Deimeke, the former mayor, won the uncontested race.

Community R-VI School Board
Daniel Schafer (188) and Rhonda Curtis (167) won the two seats up for election on the Community R-VI School Board. Wayne Glasgow came in third (126). This includes the 10 votes coming in from Montgomery County.

Mexico
The City of Mexico’s question passed by a 555-214 margin.

Christopher Williams beat Joshua Price 574-157 in the councilman race.

As for the Mexico 59 School Board, Heather DeMint (510) and Nicole Nelson (357) each won seats on the board, holding off six other challengers on the ballot.

As for the write-in race for Audrain Ambulance Sub-District 3, Kim Huemann won with 2 votes. Nine other candidates had one vote.

In Bowling Green, Proposition S for Bowling Green Schools does pass 761-510

The two precincts totals are in from Pike County, providing us a clearer picture of the Van-Far R-I School Board race.

By a 223-39 vote, voters in the Community R-VI School District passed Prop A.

As for the City of Laddonia alderman race, Glenn Jensen (72) and Kevin Charlton (62) won the race. Monte Hanson was third with 41 votes.

In the Ward 3 Alderman race for the City of Vandalia, incumbent Debbie Hopke beats Linda Wilson 89-59.

In Mexico, Heather DeMint (510) and Nicole Nelson (357) are set to win the Mexico 59 School Board race. Hailey Schutte was third with 283 votes.

In the Community R-VI School Board race, Daniel Schafer (183) and Rhonda Curtis (163) win the race. Wayne Glasgow was third (125).

Several competitive election races came to a close on Tuesday, April 2 in the area.
Still waiting for one precinct in Pike County. As of now for Audrain and Ralls County, Bryan Evans (333) and Stacia Wilson (273) are in the lead for the Van-Far R-I School Board race. Incumbent and current President Dana Keller is just behind them with 232 votes. Only the top two get the board position.
