The Susanna Randolph Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its first meeting of the year on September 5.
The chapter met at Warm Springs Ranch in Booneville, where they toured the facility and met the newest Busch Clydesdale. They then continued on to Roslyn Heights for a tour and to see the newly installed windows, supper and the meeting.
Joy Davis, regent, presided and led the opening ritual. Ann Carter, read from the welcome letter to the Continental Congress. Judy Flowers read an American Indian Minute. Brenda Gowers reminded us to keep recycling everything we can for a conservation update.
In Officer Reports: Mandi Bryant took roll call and read the May’s minutes. Cindy Pirch, corresponding secretary, read thank you notes from Groves Cottage. Ruth Miller read a note from Audrain Co.
Health Department. Wenzel read the financial report and reminded the yearly dues needed to be collected.
Ruth Miller, registrar, reported that Crystal McCurdy’s application was sent off and she should receive her national number in October.
Ann Carter, vice regent, updated everyone who could not make the tours early in the day on Warm Springs Ranch.
In committee reports: Carter informed everyone that the in the program books that were handed out it detailed all the upcoming programs.
Bryant gave an update that through the summer over $50,000 worth of expired coupons had been sent to troops overseas. Flowers reported what Celebrate America program Is and how to log your hours for volunteer work from now until the end of December.
Unfinished Business: Carter and Miller reported that the Community Service Award will soon start as well as the Archives project for all the items of the chapter.
New Business: Carter Moved to still have a table at Prairie days however used more for an informational table with patriotic items instead of selling raffle items as in the past. Virginia Howdeshell seconds the motion and it passed unanimously.
The Northeast District meeting in Kirksville is on September 26, and forms of those who were attending were collected and plans were made to meet and drive together.
Davis reminded that Van-Far is having an all school reunion on Saturday, September 28. Davis gave an update on 122nd Continental Congress. Flowers reminded everyone to document your volunteer hours for Celebrate America.
DAR special grant proposals are being considered. Davis reminded everyone that September 11 is Remembrance day, Constitution week is 17-23. The meeting was adjourned with the closing ritual.
