Daniel T. Conrad, age 80, of San Antonio died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013.
Dan graduated from Bowling Green H.S. in 1951 and from Westminster College in 1955. He was in graduate school at Missouri University for two years. Research in the chemistry of paints and coatings dominated his career with Goodyear Tire Chemical Division for well over 30 years. He had some patents and was an expert in polyester coatings that combined well with ink printing.
In his high school years in Bowling Green, Dan worked at the Kroger store and assisted with the local Boy Scout troop. With three sons, he became a passionate supporter of the Akron, Ohio area Boy Scouts. He served in many leadership capacities, mostly as a troop scoutmaster. He was an active member of the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Cuyahoga Falls.
Dan led a life of service, whether it was to his family, his church, his employer, or any civic activity; he was there to do any task, unsung or otherwise, to further a project.
Dan is survived by his three sons that he was very proud of, Christian Conrad and wife, Gina (Cincinnati), R. Andrew Conrad and wife, Lee Ann (San Antonio), and Brian Conrad and wife, Carolina (Bristow, Va.); niece, Patricia Bacik; grandchildren, Lindsey, Rebecca, Sarah, Harper, and Truman; great-granddaughter, Lily; his sister, Catherine Menton and husband, Seymour (Irvine, Calif.); brother, Joseph Conrad (River Falls, Wis.); and nephews, Tim Menton and Allen Menton.
