Curryville Presbyterian Church holds busy month

The Curryville Presbyterian Church celebrated many exciting events this past July. They celebrated being back in our sanctuary after nine months of worshiping in our Fellowship Hall. We celebrated with the wedding of Jessica Reading and Nick Powers. Additionally, children from the community attended our Children’s Story Time held in July.
To wrap up the summer, the church held another fantastic Vacation Bible School where they explored the different stories that involve water at “Splash Canyon.” Students learned about Baby Moses in his basket, Naaman who had to wash in the water, and Jesus who was baptized in the Jordan. Attendance averaged 30 youth every night breaking bread together, singing, and jumping for Jesus. The VBS offering goal was set at $300 and everyone decided that the offering should be used to stock the new Little Free Pantry. Each night, they had a shopping cart filled with food and the youth could pick the food that would be placed in the pantry. The church surpassed their goal by Tuesday and by Thursday had raised $500. The motto for the week was “Yes! God is Good! God is Good! Yes, He is!” The church are continually reminded that God is good, and that God does provide. God has found another way to provide for the community with the pantry and has provided the food by the generosity of our youth. The Little Free Library and Little Free Pantry are in place on the west side of the church and available for anyone. The church would like to thank all of the youth who came out to learn with the church, the teachers, kitchen helpers, parents who entrusted the church with their children, the behind the scenes of it all and the help and support from both Curryville Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, Vandalia for another great year.
