Melanie Utterback, high school Science teacher at Community R-VI, was awarded in recent months, a Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation (MRTF) Classroom Grant for $500.
Utterback’s grant proposal, “Lights, Camera, Learn” will be used to purchase a professional green screen set-up that will be used district wide by all students, and apps for the high school students to use green screen technology on their iPads.
In today’s age of Youtube stars, many students dream of their name in lights. Who will have that next catchy jingle that gets stuck in your head and you catch yourself humming it 24-7?
To keep students engaged, we must make our lessons more of what they want with lots of technology and new apps they can use to show their creativity, while sneaking some learning in on the side!
The MRT Foundation is the charitable arm of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and Public School Personnel (MRTA).
MRTA is the voice of education retirees in Missouri boasting a membership of nearly 26,000 retirees.
Statewide, there were more than 460 applications for the 84 awarded grants.
