Community R-VI drops two games

The Community R-VI Trojans baseball team had a pair of tough losses recently as they were outscored 26-5 in two games.
Against Sturgeon, four Trojans’ errors and a 15-hit night for the Bulldogs led to Community R-VI falling 13-5.
Sturgeon led 4-0 in the top of the third inning before the Trojans rallied to take a one-run lead with a five-run bottom half.
Eric Hombs scored the first run on an error before Phillip Doms added an RBI single.
Another Sturgeon error led to Cordell Hollensteiner scoring a third run.
Hunter Houghton added an RBI single two batters before Hombs scored for a second time in the inning, this time on a bases-loaded walk.
The Bulldogs answered with three runs scored in each of the next two innings before winning the game by eight.
Doms finished the game with two hits, one RBI, and one run scored; Eric Homs had one RBI and one run scored; Levi Rafferty had two hits; Hollensteiner, Josh Atkinson, and Evan Hartsock scored one run; while Matt Gastler, Avery Carline, and Houghton had one RBI.
Matt Gastler tossed four innings and allowed 13 hits, seven  earned runs, four walks, and had seven strikeouts.
Hartsock tossed two innings and struck out two but allowed no earned runs and one hit.
Houghton had one inning on the mound and allowed no earned runs and one hit.
Loss to Wright City
The Trojans also had a disappointing 13-0 loss to Wright City after the offense had just one hit and the defense committed six errors.
Wright City scored at least four runs in three different innings for all of their runs in the five-inning victory.
Hollensteiner had the lone hit in the loss.
Houghton picked up the loss on the mound after allowing 12 hits, five earned runs, three walks, with four strikeouts.
