The Annual Veteran’s Day Assembly at Community R-VI High School will be held on Thursday, November 9. Breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. and the assembly will start approximately 9 a.m. All area veterans and their spouses are invited to attend.
The Van-Far R-I School District will be holding a Veteran’s Day Assembly on Friday, November 10. The event is sponsored by Van-Far’s National Honor Society. Breakfast will be served from 8:15-8:50 a.m. in the high school cafeteria. An assembly will follow at 9 a.m. in the high school gym.
A PowerPoint is being put together with photos from area veterans and active military personnel that were taken during their service. Photos can be taken to the school or mailed to Teresa Winders, Van-Far High School, 2200 W. Highway 54, Vandalia, Mo. 63382.
Story Time will be starting Vandalia Branch Library on Thursday, November 9 at 10 a.m. Call 594-6600 with any questions.
The New Vandalia Neighborhood Watch group will have the first meeting in the Lange Building on Thursday, November 9 at 6 p.m. The subject of the meeting will be “Recent break-ins and drugs and how we can help.” All Vandalia residents and workers are invited to attend. The First Christian Church in Vandalia will hold a “Rock Solid Revival” on November 12-15. The theme of the event will be “Reviving the Priesthood.”
The Sunday Worship service will begin at 10:15 a.m. and that evening at 6 p.m. On Monday-Wednesday, the services will start at 6 p.m. with Evangelist Tom Weaver. Everyone is welcome.
The Addicts Victorious meetings have moved to the Unity Outreach building at 210 S. Main, in Vandalia. Meetings are every Monday at the new location 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Many Vandalia residents may have noticed books on bookshelves when looking through the glass door at the new Vandalia Branch Library location on Main St. recently.
Vandalia Librarian Crystal McCurdy said the goal is for all of the work to be done on the outside of the building before the location will be officially open. The Mexico-Audrain County Library District has scheduled an official Open House from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14.
The Vandalia Area Historical Society will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 18 inside the Genealogy Library. Everyone is welcome.
The Van-Far Character+ Holiday Craft and Vendor Fest is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, November 18 at the Jr./Sr. High School.
