Service for Memorial Day on Sun., May 28
May 28 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Vandalia First Christian Church will be hosting Vandalia’s main Memorial Day Service this year with a Community Patriotic Service on Sunday, May 28 at 6 p.m.
During the service, veterans will be honored.
There will not be a Memorial Service at the V.F.W. this year. But, they will still be doing the Gun Salute at the cemeteries.
Everyone is welcome at the service and all churches are invited to provide musical numbers. Please call 573-594-2703 by Friday, May 26 by noon if your church wishes to bring a musical piece.

The Vandalia V.F.W. Post No. 2173 will give the Gun Salute at the following cemeteries on Memorial Day, May 29:
• Farber at 8:30 a.m.
• Memorial Gardens at 9 a.m.
• Vandalia at 9:30 a.m.
This year’s main Vandalia area Memorial Day Service will be held at  6 p.m. on Sunday, May 28 at the First Christian Church, in Vandalia.

Addicts Victorious has moved meeting site @ Unity Outreach Building

The Addicts Victorious meetings have moved to the Unity Outreach building at 210 S. Main, in Vandalia. Meetings are every Monday at the new location 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Summer Reading Program at library registrations

“Build a Better World” is the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program at the Vandalia Library.
Sign-up starts on June 5 for children ages Kindergarten-12 years of age. Stop by the library to register for the program.
Our program this year will be different than in the past, so come by and find out all about it. The Vandalia Library is temporarily located at 401 South Lincoln. If you have questions, call 594-6600.

School retirees set to meet on June 7

The Audrain County Area Public School Retirees next meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1000 Dorcas Street, in Mexico.

Disaster Expo in Mexico

Several different response agencies, spurred on by the congregation at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Mexico, are joining together to help the public understand more of what their role is in the community in times of disasters.
A Community Disaster Expo will be held by the church and the agencies on Sunday, June 11 from 2-5 p.m. The church is located at 1100 Grove Street in Mexico, directly to the east of Eugene Field Elementary School.

Faith Tabernacle set for VBS June 13-16
Jun 13 @ 3:30 pm – Jun 16 @ 6:30 pm

Faith Tabernacle COGIC, 907 West Home Street, will host Vacation Bible School from at 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13-Friday, June 16.
This is the second year of VBS for Faith Tabernacle. Last year, 30-35 children attended each evening during the week long session.
This year’s theme will be “4 steps 4 Jesus.” There will be daily Bible lessons, songs, crafts, games, and a light meal served on Tuesday and Friday.
On Friday, we invite parents to attend and see the children perform a skit, songs, and receive completion certificates.
