Spaghetti supper at New Harmony Mar. 11 @ New Harmony Christian Church

The Youth Group at New Harmony Christian Church will be hosting a spaghetti supper on Saturday, March 11. The meal will consist of baked spaghetti, salad, green beans, bread, and dessert and will be served from 5–7 p.m. at the church. Donations will be accepted for service projects, including Operation Christmas Child, love gifts to various families in the community, and maintenance projects at the church.

“All You Can Eat” to be held at St. Joseph @ St. Joseph Catholic School

The St. Joseph Catholic School  will be having a “All You Can Eat Breakfast” on Sunday, March 12 from 8 a.m.-Noon at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Martinsburg.
Price for adults is $8, $4 for kids ages 6-12, and free for kids under age 6. This event is sponsored by the St. Joseph Parish Council.

Addicts Victorious has moved meeting site @ Unity Outreach Building

The Addicts Victorious meetings have moved to the Unity Outreach building at 210 S. Main, in Vandalia. Meetings are every Monday at the new location 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Emergency exercise to be held at WERDCC @ WERDCC
Mar 15 – Mar 20 all-day

Within the next week, the Women’s Eastern Reception, Diagnostic, and Correctional Center (WERDCC) in Vandalia will be conducting its annual emergency exercise. This exercise will involve staff members from WERDCC, possibly other law enforcement, and/or equipment in the community. This joint exercise will assist personnel in remaining prepared to address emergency situations and in keeping the public safe.

Lenten season begins with March 8 luncheon

The Vandalia Ministerial Alliance is hosting the Lenten Service at First Christian Church from 12-1 p.m. on each Wednesday of the Lenten season. The service includes a meal followed by a devotional given by the hosting church. This year’s theme is “Meaningful Moments from the Passion Week.” The host church for March 8 is Second Missionary Baptist Church. These services will be held every Wednesday through April 5 until the final service, which is on Good Friday, April 14.

Movie night to help “Game of Tiara’s” @ Van-Far Elementary School

Save the date for a Van-Far Drama Department fundraiser for the school production of “Game of Tiara’s,” by Don Zolidis.
The Drama Department and Theater is in need of communities help and are hosting a movie night with the cast. The cost is $5 per person and it covers movie, popcorn, and drink. Featured will be Disney’s classic “Sword and the Stone.”
This will be a fun night with prizes! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, pillows, and don’t forget to wear PJ’s. Join in the fun March 18 at the Van-Far Elementary gym starting at 5 p.m.
Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Audrain County Health Department @ ACHD

The Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) will close at noon on Friday March 17 and will re-open on Monday, March 20 at 8 a.m. Note: The VAHS Museum will re-open on Saturday, April 15, the day before Easter, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Loafer’s Day slated to help Maturity building @ Modern Maturity Building
Mar 20 @ 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Loafer’s Day will take place on Monday, March 20 at 9:30 a.m., at the Modern Maturity building.
Everyone is welcome to come to lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and it will cost $7. The menu includes vegetable soup, chili, sandwiches, dessert, and tea or coffee. Take out lunches will be available.
The Modern Maturity Center is on the south edge of town across from Ennis Implement. Everyone is welcome to come out and play cards, eat peanuts, and throw the shells on the floor.

Van-Far P.A.T. set for annual screenings @ Van-Far Elementary School
Mar 21 @ 1:00 pm – Mar 22 @ 10:00 pm

The Van-Far Parents as Teachers early education program is offering a free pre-school and kindergarten screening for children turning ages 4 and 5 years old by August 1. Appointments are available for March 21-22 and parents or guardians will need to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate, immunizations, and social security number to be put in their child’s permanent file at the school. The screenings will include  speech, language, hearing, vision, and motor development.  Call 573-594-2731 to make an appointment or with questions.
