R-VI P.A.T. hosts Sept. 22 event

Does your family have an emergency plan and emergency kits prepared? Community R-VI Parents as Teachers will have a Group Connections meeting Thursday, September 22 from 6- 7 p.m. in the cafeteria to help parents learn how to be prepared for an emergency.
After viewing a video, each family will make a plan based on Missouri’s “Ready in Three” campaign.
There will be a drawings for attendance prizes which are a first aid medical kit for the home and a roadside emergency kit.
This meeting is open to all families in our district who are expecting or have children up to age five.
There will be activities for the children also. Pre-register by emailing thomas@cr6.net or by calling Mary Thomas at Community R-VI at 855-708-7567.

The Addicts Victorious meetings have moved to the Unity Outreach building at 210 S. Main, in Vandalia. Meetings are every Monday at the new location 6:30-7:30 p.m.

“See You at the Pole” set for September 28 @ Van-Far Jr./Sr. High School

Students, parents, and teachers are encouraged to come out and pray together in support of our Savior, our students, and our school on September 28 at Van-Far Elementary 7:15-7:30 a.m. and Van-Far Junior High/High School 7:25-7:40 a.m.
“See You at the Pole” is sponsored by the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance.

City Wide Yard Sale set for early October @ City of Vandalia

Sign-ups have begun for the Vandalia Fall All-town Yard Sales scheduled for 8 a.m.-? on Saturday, October 1.
Forms for the annual Vandalia Area Chamber of Commerce event are currently available at The Vandalia Leader’s office and Martinsburg Bank.
Cost is just $10. Deadline to register is Friday, September 23 at 5 p.m.
Please make checks payable to the Vandalia Area Chamber of Commerce.

Vandalia All-Town Yard Sales this Sat.
Oct 1 @ 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm

The Vandalia Fall All-Town Yard Sale will be held from 8 a.m.-? on Saturday, October 1 in Vandalia. The seasonal event is sponsored by the Vandalia Area Chamber of Commerce.
From 6-10 a.m., there will be a pancake and sausage breakfast at the Vandalia Fire Station. A barbecue by the Vandalia Area Fair Board will be held from 11 a.m.-? at the four-way stop.
Maps will be available at local banks, United Credit Union, and many local businesses. They are also available at Highway 54 and Main St. on the day of the sales.

Young Eagles Program slated for October 1 @ Bowling Green Airport

The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter No. 1387 will host the 2016 Young Eagles Fall Program on Saturday morning, October 1. Ever wondered what your neighborhood looks like from the sky? Or maybe you’re curious how airplanes even work. You might even dream about being a pilot. If you’re shaking you’re head “yes” and are between the ages of 8-17, then come to the Bowling Green Airport on Saturday, October 1 from 9 a.m.-noon and an EAA member volunteer pilot will take you on a free Young Eagles flight. You must have a parent or legal guardian accompany you to the event. In the event of inclement weather or high winds, we will continue our program in the spring. If you have any questions, please contact the Young Eagles Coordinator Pat Donovan at 636-462-8370.

Aircraft Association to meet on October 8 @ Mexico Memorial Airport
Oct 8 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

The Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter No. 1225 will hold its regular monthly meeting October 8, 9 a.m. at the Mexico Memorial Airport. The June 4 meeting was at the  Macon Chapter Fly-in at the Macon Airport. Penny Shepherd won a drawing for a plane ride and enjoyed a 20-minute ride in a Cessna172.
The July 9 meeting was at the Creve Coeur Airport Museum. The September 10 Meeting was at the Nickolas Beasley Museum at Marshall. Also, in September, EAA members volunteered to help with the Zenith Open House which had a very good turnout. Now that summer is over, we will continue monthly meetings at the Mexico Airport. Everyone is welcome to attend the monthly meetings. Interested people do not need to be a pilot or own an airplane. All you need is an interest in aviation. An EAA program Chapter Video Magazine News from headquarters will be available.
