Members of the Middletown Lions Club gathered Wednesday, March 20 at Smokin’ J’s Restaurant in Middletown to present a check to the Central Missouri Honor Flight (CMHF). Accepting for the CMHF was Eldora Lowry.
Funds from the Lions Club were raised through chicken dinners, a raffle drawing for a gun, and donations.
The $3,000 check will allow 10 veterans to be honored for their service.
Central Missouri Honor Flight transports World War II, Korean, and Vietnam veterans from throughout Central Missouri to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.
Since its inception in 2009, thousands of veterans on 56 flights have been transported at no cost to the veteran. CMHF is a volunteer organization funded by donations from individuals, organizations, and businesses who wish to see veterans honored.
The next flight will be No 57 and is scheduled for May 20 and No. 58 for June 18. More details will be announced closer to date.
