MARTINSBURG—It was a beautiful day for the “Oktoberfest” on the St. Joseph Parish grounds Sunday Oct. 6.
The event scheduled all day activities from 10:30 a.m. into the afternoon with a live auction that began at 3 p.m.
Paul Bertels was in charge of handling the large car show on the property throughout the day. Awards were given out in several categories and announced near the end of the event before the live auction.
Local talent performed from 10:30 a.m. to noon, followed by Andy Avery in concert from noon to 2 p.m.
There was also a Country Store and a quilt raffle, along with a scarecrow contest, 50/50 golf ball drop, childrens’ games, bingo, and so much more.
The St. Joseph School boasted an alumni table, as well, located on the Parish grounds near St. Joseph.
Shuttle service was being provided throughout the day.
There was also a wide variety of food concessions available, which included kettle fried chicken, brats and kraut, fried taters, German potato salad, hot dogs, and more. Homemade desserts and drinks were also available.
Winning results from the Car Show were:
Best Antique Car and Truck 1900-1948 was Gary Heim of Middletown with a 1941 Chevy half-ton pickup.
Best Street Rod pre-1949 was Richard and Sandra Primus from Martinsburg with a 1930 Ford.
Best Street Machine Car 1949-1969 was Ron and Stacy Votaw from Center with their 1967 Chevy Malibu.
Best Street Machine Car 1970-1998 was Glenda Jurgesmeyer of Mexico with a 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS.
Best Truck from 1949-1972 was Jeff Polston of Mexico with his 1972 Chevy Truck.
Best Truck from 1973 to Present was Leon Shaw of Vandalia with his 1974 Ford F-100 XLT.
Best Original Car from 1949-1972 was Terry Hill of Mexico with a 1969 Pontiac GTO.
Best Original Car from 1973 to Present was Harriet Francis of Columbia with a 1973 Mercury Cougar XR7.
Best Corvette was Jr and Lori Robnett of Auxvasse with their 1979 Chevy Corvette C3 Atlas Red.
Best Mustang was Julie Blair of Mexico with a 1965 Mustang.
Best Rat Rod winner went to Ryan Robnett of Mexico with a 1954 Buick Special.
Best Mopar winner was Robert Dubbert of Laddonia with his 1968 Dodge Charger.
Best Firebird and Camaro winner was Paul Busken of Curryville with a 1970 Chevy Z-28 Camaro.
And Father Austin’s Choice was Troy Rafferty of Laddonia with a 1969 Chevy Camaro.
