The Audrain County Health Department (ACHD) annual Hospice Memorial Service was held Thursday evening, November 5, 2013. The service was held in memory of ACHD patients who passed away from November 2012-October 2013. The ceremony was held at the Audrain County Health Department in Mexico. Family and friends of 11 hospice patients were present and 27 individuals were memorialized. As each patient’s name was read, their family members were presented with a poem and a luminaria. Family members and staff shared memories and reflections of loved ones.
Reverend Jay Morris shared a meaningful message with those present. As each family left the service, they were presented a helium filled balloon with a message attached if desired. These balloons were released into the air following a benediction and meditation by the Reverend Jerry Ostrom. Diane Baker, Hospice staff member, sang “In The Garden” during the service. Jay Morris, Hospice Spiritual Advisor; Bev Borgeson MSW, Social Worker; Katie Swaim, RN; Kayla Reading, RN; Susan Deener, LPN; Kerry Patton, LPN; Brandi Crow, LPN; Lori Dubes, CNA; Diane Baker, billing specialist; and Carol Stuart, support staff.
