Several resignations, upcoming events discussed at Van-Far

Several resignations were approved by the Van-Far R-I School Board during their meeting held last Thursday. Kyle Epperson resigned from her duty as JV girls basketball coach. William Wickles resigned as a bus driver while both paraprofessionals Juanita Lynn and Sarah Boston also resigned. Superintendent’s Report Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hunter reported a current enrollment of 612 students, with 238 in the Jr./Sr. High School and 374 in the Elementary School.

    The Community R-VI School Board voted to offer 2015-16 probationary contracts to several teachers when they met last Wednesday. The teachers receiving contracts are Stacie Carroz, Lisa Garrett, Sarah Simmons, Stacy French, Ken Jett, Brandon Westlake, Jessica Young, Caitlyn Cunningham, Haley Nobis, Jonathan Guilkey, Brandon Talbot, Mackenzie Chism, and Michele Ebers.     The Vandalia Leader’s Crystal Beatty was recognized for two second place finishes after ads she created received honors in the Missouri Advertising Manager Association (MAMA) Best Ad Contest. The contest is held through the Missouri Press Association. In the “Best Single Classified Display Ad” category, Beatty’s windshield repair ad for Vandalia Auto Sales received second place. With 20 boys set to compete for the track and field team, Van-Far’s 2015 Spring season could end in the school’s first ever district title in the sport.     Van-far Band and Choir members participated in the District Contest this past weekend in Mexico. Van-Far’s Band earned a “2”.
