When Vandalia’s Renee Goeppner saw an inspiring friend’s health continue to decline last Christmas, it weighed heavily on her heart. Her friend, Chris Mattox, of Springfield, has the genetic condition polycystic kidney disease (PKD), which has no cure. Vandalia residents hurt in wreck

Three Vandalia residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident on October 10 at 6:55 p.m. in Pike County at U.S. Highway 54, west of Route U. Ariel L. Harvey, age 20, of Vandalia, the driver of a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, received minor injuries and was transported to Pike County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Charles L.     A third postponement of the maintenance closure of the Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana was issued this week after a string of storms started moving through the area.
