Enrollment figures a concern at Playcare

Vandalia Playcare is currently enjoying its 46th year of serving Vandalia area families. While the not-for-profit group has been successful in working with kids ages 3-5, Playcare officials wish they could serve more families. Currently, there are just four students enrolled in the morning and six students in the afternoon. Vandalia Playcare’s capacity for each session is 10 students. Before last year, Playcare was at the maximum level of students.

Five suspects arrested for burglary in Pike County

    On September 6, 2014 at approximately 9:12 p.m., the Pike County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 6456 Pike 457 for a man threatening his family with a gun. James R. Mark Twain runs over Van-Far/Community R-VI in 50-0 victory

Though the Van-Far/Community R-VI football team entered last Friday night’s game against Mark Twain with a 2-0 record, the Indians had yet to face team like the Tigers. Mark Twain won the battle on both the offensive and defensive lines by firing out low on their way to a 50-0 victory. The Tigers had 550 yards rushing in the win. The Indians started three first year lineman on the line.

    Six area ladies recently formed a team and were among a select group of 200 teams that participated in “The GO! Missouri™” KT82 inaugural race on Saturday, August 30. The one day, 82-mile trail relay, featuring scenic trails like the Katy Trail, started at Creve Coeur Park in St. Louis County and finished in Hermann, Mo.
