    Grace Nation holds the quilt she made for the Festival of Sharing Quilt Auction. Money from the quilt auction is used to buy Church World Service blankets for disasters all over the world.     Author Jane Brooks in her home holds up the book she recently published called “Lilac Lane.”

    When Jane Brooks’ 6 year old granddaughter asked her one day what it was like when she was a little girl, the question quickly helped Brooks remember many precious memories of her childhood on a Martinsburg farm in the 1930s.     Meeting in regular session on Tuesday, October 21, Agape House of Vandalia board members reviewed the attendance and program at the October 12 open house and 10-year anniversary celebration. The event was considered a great success with both first-time and frequent visitors in attendance. It was decided to discontinue annual open houses but perhaps offer an open house in five years.     The Naughton family reunion was held Sunday, October 19 at the Senior Citizens Center, Vandalia. The day was enjoyed by all visiting, taking pictures, eating, and fellowshipping with one another. After the 12:30 p.m. carry-in dinner, prizes were awarded to the following: Marvin Jones, oldest person present; Breigha Varner, youngest; one traveling the farthest, Curt and Jeanie Athey, Yuma, Arizona; door prize adult, Rachel Harlan; kid’s door prize, Breigha Varner.
