Van-Far JH girls track celebrates success

The junior high girls track and field team recently celebrated their successful season with a pizza party and showed off their medals won this season. The season was shortened by weather as we only participated in four of the eight track meets scheduled.

  • Van-Far JH boys track team celebrates

    Boys team seated are Parker Wallace, Lathyn McMorris, and Josh Hodde.  Standing are Cameron Barse, Jacob Garner, Dustin Cross, Joe Clithero, Sharrod Connor, Kyle Ebers, and Coach Garry Pirch.

    The Van-Far Junior High boys track and field team celebrated its recent season with a gathering at Pizza Hut. Two Junior High records were broken this year as Sharrod Connor broke his own triple jump record.  His best jump this season was 36’ 4 3/4”.  He also bettered the long jump record jumping 18’ 4”.  Coaches said the boys and girls came close on several other records but did not

  • R-VI baseball falls in district semifinals

    The Community R-VI Trojans baseball team had their season come to a disappointing end last week when they lost in the district semifinals 13-12 to rival Silex. Pitchers Jacob Eastwood, Lane Thebeau, and Kaleb Harris all saw time on the mound. Harris struck out two batters in the 7th inning before allowing the game-winning run to score on a bloop double down the right field line with the bases loaded.

  • Van-Far baseball falls early in districts

    Van-Far’s baseball season came to an end last week in districts after pitchers walked seven batters and allowed 15 hits in a 16-1 loss to Clopton. The Indians scored their lone run in the fifth inning after Ethan Gooch’s double scored Lucas Robinson. “We actually hit the ball harder than we have all year but it was right at their fielders and their outfielders made three really good plays,” said

    The Community R-VI School District celebrated its athletes and coaches with its annual Athletic Banquet held on Friday, May 10. Senior Justin Durham was this year’s recipient of the Mr. Trojan Award while Paige Curtis won the Lady Trojan Award. The Sandra Schutte Award was given to Sean Wilson and Amelia Knipfel. The George M. Dameron Award was given to Paige Harris and Cameron Foreman. This year’s Booster Club Award

  • Van-Far gets first win of the season

    Entering their final regular season game of the season without a victory, Van-Far’s seniors made sure they went out with a victory after defeating Madison 7-6 in extra innings. Ethan Gooch picked up the win on the mound in relief after tossing the final two innings and allowing no runs.     Community R-VI’s three track and field sectional qualifiers each scored team points but were unable to advance past last weekend sectional meet held Saturday, May 11 at Principia High School. In the boys long jump, seniors Nick Jensen and Cameron Foreman each made a push for a top-four state qualifying finish. Jensen took fifth after leaping 19’5.5”.     Four Community R-VI players earned EMO All-Conference honors after coaches recently made their first and second team selections. Sophomore Clay Thebeau was named to the first-team in the outfield while junior Kaleb Harris was named as a utility first-team player.
